Poblano Pepper Plant Start

Celebrated as one of Mexico’s most beloved pepper varieties, this chili boasts 3- to 6-inch heart-shaped fruits that typically deliver a mild heat, registering at around 2000 Scoville heat units. When utilized in its green stage, especially after roasting and peeling, it stands as the pepper for crafting traditional chili rellenos. Upon drying, the fruit develops to a rich dark red-brown hue ready to be ground into an authentic red chili powder. This chili variety, cherished for its versatility and mild spiciness, plays a pivotal role in the vibrant tapestry of Mexican culinary delights.

All plant starts are grown in OASIS® 1.5″ x 1.5″ grow cubes until they reach approximately 4″ to 6″ in height. Plants are only stocked and made available for shipping once both the plant and root system are strong enough to withstand transit.

Eggplants – Peppers and eggplants demand similar growing conditions making them quite a strong pairing

Beans, peas – Peppers are heavy feeders and pairing with legume varieties that enrich the soil will do them well

Lettuce, salad mix – These low-to-the-ground varieties both maximize garden space and are light feeders, complimenting both pepper’s size and tendency to pull a lot of nutrients from the soil 

Marigolds – a repellent for some of the pests that bother peppers
